MCDONALD’S TO HOST FUNDRAISING EVENTS BENEFITING LOCAL SOCCER PLAYERS
“Soccer Saturday’s” Fundraising Events Expected to Raise $50,000 for Arizona Youth Soccer Association & Member Clubs

PHOENIX, Ariz. – December 6, 2011McDonald’s of Phoenix and northern Arizona announces its “Soccer Saturday’s” fundraising events as part of their support of the Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA). Every Saturday in January, selected AYSA soccer clubs will host fundraising events at selected McDonald’s locations.  The goal is to raise $50,000 during Soccer Saturdays to benefit club registration scholarships and the Olympic Development Program for players in need.

“Soccer Saturday’s” events will be held inside McDonald’s restaurants from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  January 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2012. A portion of the front counter sales during the allotted timeframe will go towards players in need of financial assistance for regular season play as well as registration for ODP.

"We at McDonald’s stand behind programs like AYSA that help our youth stay active and involved," said Shane Thompson, president of McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association of Phoenix and northern Arizona.  "This is one of the largest youth sports fundraising efforts ever undertaken. As a result, thousands of Arizona kids will have the opportunity to play soccer and develop leadership skills that are beneficial both on and off the field."
“Arizona Youth Soccer Association and our Phoenix and northern Arizona member clubs are thrilled to have the support of McDonald’s restaurants. The “Soccer Saturday’s” promotion through January is a tremendous opportunity for our members and clubs to work together to raise funds that will provide much needed financial assistance to those in need at the club and ODP levels.” Leslie Johnson, AYSA Executive Director.
