What is the Flagstaff Soccer Club?
The Flagstaff Soccer Club was formed in 1988. It was originally named the “Flagstaff Snow Devils” and began with one team. The Club was established to provide youth in Flagstaff and the surrounding areas an opportunity to participate in organized and competitive soccer. FSC is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization affiliated with the Arizona Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).
What is a Travel Team?
Travel Teams play league games and two tournaments in Flagstaff. We also travel outside of the Flagstaff area. The season begins in July and runs until the following spring with a break between Thanksgiving and early January. U11 and older teams will play in approximately 6 tournaments; in addition to, open or state league play. U8-U10 teams will play fewer tournaments. Travel Team players are evaluated at the U-11 level and older to determine their skill level and their placement on an appropriate travel team.
What are Tryouts?
Tryouts, or “skills assessments” are held every year for players U11 and older to determine the team rosters for the upcoming season. Players are evaluated using a Field Player Evaluation form, which covers technical ability, tactical decisions/match play and overall physical fitness.
What are a player’s responsibilities?
Players are expected to attend all practices, scrimmages and games. U8-U9 players practice once a week and attend an NAU Skills Session once a week. U10 and older teams typically practice two times per week for 1 ½ hours with an additional NAU Skills Session available once a week. Players or parents must notify the coach in a timely fashion if the player will miss any scheduled team event, including practice. Players are expected to respect their teammates and coach by arriving on time, fully “geared” and ready to participate. Players must abide by all FSC policies. All players will refrain from negative, unsafe or disruptive behavior at all times. Failure to abide by these rules may result in suspension or dismissal from the team.
What are the parent’s responsibilities?
FSC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that relies heavily on volunteers. There are many opportunities for volunteering in the club (fundraising, grant writing, field lining, team manager, team treasurer, etc…). Each parent is required to volunteer a minimum of two hours at the Soccer at the Summit Tournament and two hours at the Northern Arizona Invitational. These tournaments are the club’s biggest fundraisers and monies raised go to offset various costs of every player including club wide skills, equipment, scholarships, etc. Additionally, we will hold a club wide fundraiser in August. Parents should support their player(s) by getting their children to practice on time and with the proper equipment. Parents should attend games and tournaments, supporting the team with positive sideline behavior. Travel expenses (such as fuel, meals, and hotels) are not paid for by FSC and are the responsibility of the player and their family.
What is the cost?

What equipment is required?
Parents are responsible for purchasing their player’s own cleats, shin guards, ball and gear bag. Each player must also have a FSC uniform which includes the following: (1) green jersey, (1) white jersey, (1) green pair of shorts, (1) pair green socks and (1) pair white socks. The uniform includes the FSC logo and player’s jersey number. Uniforms for U11+ are approximately $100. Uniforms for U8-U10 are approximately $75.00. Additional uniform pieces may be purchased separately.
Is financial assistance available?
For qualifying families FSC currently offers a limited number of scholarships to cover up to 2/3 of the registration fee. Additionally, scholarships may be available for up to 2/3 of the quarterly dues. These scholarships are awarded on a per case basis and must be renewed each year with Board approval necessary. The scholarships originate from the scholarship fund, which is in part funded by our annual Soccer at the Summit Tournament (sponsored by Summit Center) and Northern Arizona Invitational. One criterion used to determine scholarship eligibility is qualification for free or reduced school lunch. Since not all families are included in the public school system, other criteria will be considered by the FSC Board of Directors on a per case basis. Requests for scholarships should be submitted via mail and authorized by the parent to the FSC Treasurer for FSC Board approval.
When will we receive notification regarding team formation?
Coaches will contact parents/guardians within one week after the final tryout. Players U8-U10 shall be considered assigned to a team roster upon receipt of registration paperwork and registration fee.
